Wyong Drama Group: Media Release-7To: All Media Outlets By: Peter Deane Ph: 02-XXXX-XXXX Re: Blithe Spirit to open on 22 April! Dt: 13 April 2004 Blithe Spirit by Noël Coward is set to open at Wyong Memorial Hall on Thursday next week. This has been in preparation by the group since November last year, and director Denise Cooper has been very busy in getting the show on the road. The past history of theatre directors is often colourful, and Denise is no exception to this rule. In an earlier life, Denise was a singer in a rock and roll band, lived and worked around South East Asia for several years. She was one of the many entertainers in Vietnam, remaining committed to the Vietnam Veteran’s Association and marching annually to this day. Denise loved the theatre, but avoided having a go herself until her creativity clock blew up seven years ago and she embarked upon a part time Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in Drama, at Newcastle University. Proving that age and circumstance is no barrier to success, Denise was among the recipients of “The Pro Vice Chancellors Award 2001” for outstanding academic performance, and graduated this month. WDG’s cast for Blithe Spirit is Prema Carpenter as Edith (the maid), Howard Oxley as Charles, Cathy Stone as Ruth his living second wife, Christine Vale as Elvira, his late first wife, John Pastor as Doctor Bradman and Jenny Sharrock as Mrs Bradman. The inimitable Madame Arcati is to be played by Joan Dalgleish. The play is opening at Wyong Memorial Hall in Anzac Avenue Wyong on Thursday 22 April. Don’t miss it. The performance dates and prices are given in the following table. Bookings are now open on XXXX-XXXX. For more info, see the website www.wyongdramagroup.com.au For an electronic version of photographs of Denise Cooper (and many other publicity shots), you can also see the above website, or they will be emailed on request.
