Re: Wyong Drama Group’s Next Production The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate
Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery
Dt: 26 September 2003
Wyong Drama Group is presenting a play in November with the curious title
that doubles as a press release in itself, The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate
Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery.
The show is a play about a play. The ladies of the society are attempting to
do Murder at Checkmate Manor, but that old adage, “it’ll be all right on the
night” does not ring true for them. Everything that can go wrong does so.
Scenery collapses, entrances of characters are missed and, naturally enough,
lines are forgotten. The result is hilarious mayhem, which local thespians may
be all too familiar with.
Director Millie Sampson has arranged a fine cast of Wyong Drama Group
regulars, including Pam Campbell as Mrs Reece, who gets to play five different
characters. Denise Pastor is Audrey and plays four parts, Susie Reynolds is
Thelma and Ruth Jordan is Felicity (who both play two characters). Helen
Schumann takes the role of Rita. Stage manager, Gordon, who also doubles up as
the Inspector O’Reilly character, is played by Stuart Mortimar.
The play is on at Wyong Memorial Hall, Anzac Avenue, Wyong (opposite Wyong
RSL) over the first two weekends in November. WDG is holding a twilight
performance on the first Sunday (November 9th) at 5pm. This time may well prove
popular with audiences who can see a performance and still get home while the
sun is up. Other dates and ticket prices are as in the following table. For
bookings, please phone WDG’s booking line on XXXX-XXXX.
