Our Production History
Our first show was in 1952, with the appropriately titled Charity Begins directed by Geoff Cox. <<-- On the pages to the left are buttons for each decade. Each page has a table showing all productions in those years, and then a button for each year of that decade appears, with a header page for each show. There are about three or four shows that do not have pages because there has been no archival material for them, unfortunately. And I would almost kill for a copy of the Charity Begins programme, if one actually was ever produced!
What exactly is online?The initial objective was to achieve at least a copy of the programme and some notes for every production and this has actually happened! SOME programmes are missing, indeed, but they are missing not only from the website, but also the Drama Group archives, unfortunately. In addition sometimes a lot more material is available for each show consisting of various elements such as press releases, posters, production notes, cast (and sometimes crew) photos, newspaper clippings and production/rehearsal photos. In several cases there are video clips available (copyright permitting). The objective now is to re-visit each show's web page and add more material as time goes on, plus to hunt down the missing programmes. Please note that to keep file sizes down and to increase the speed of transfer, the programmes on this website prior to 2004 have been all converted to a resolution of 96 dots per inch (dpi). This is more than adequate for on-screen viewing, but when printed, does not end up with an optimal result. If you are wanting to print out the programmes for a special purpose, please contact the webmaster who will be more than happy to supply the programmes in a much higher resolution.
