Central Coast TheatreFest 2007
This was the fourth year of annual festivals - following on from the inaugural festival which we held in 1998. This year the festival was held over 1 day (Saturday 8 September) and featured eight entries. Our adjudicator was Lyn Pierse who was back again having also adjudicated our first TheatreFest of 1998. Click here to download the programme (pdf file, 1,002,113 bytes) Wyong Drama Group presented three plays: What's for Pudding by David Tristram (directed by Ron Baker and with Nikki De Vries, Duncan Mitchell, Rose Cooper, Paul Karton and Paul Ractliffe); The Dumb Waiter by Harold Pinter (directed by Pam Campbell and with Howard Oxley and Laszlo Weidlich); and The Cagebirds by David Campton (directed by Millie Sampson and with Pollyanna Forshaw, Julie Bailey, Cathy De Vries, Jeanette McCurry, Prima Carpenter, Helen Schumman, Pam Campbell and Leanna McNeil).
The award winners, as selected by our adjudicator Lyn Pierse, were:
Below is a picture of The Cagebirds cast & crew, which won the award for Best Production, and from which Pollyanna Forshaw won Best Actress.
Helen Schumann, Julie Bailey, Jeanette McCurry, Millie Sampson, Barry Sampson, Pam Campbell, Pollyanna Forshaw & Cathy De Vries
Below is The What's For Pudding Cast, from whom Duncan Mitchell won Best Actor and Paul Ractliffe won Best Supporting Actor.
Paul Karton, Rose Cooper, Paul Ractliffe, Nikki De Vries & Duncan Mitchell
Whenever I attend a festival I always make predictions as to the award winners. My predictions for this year were:
I only got two exactly right, although we both also agree that A Dog's Life, Duncan Mitchell and Joan Dalgleish are deserving winners of some sort of award! Let's see how I go next year...
Below is the director, Millie Sampson, as pleased as punch!
Next Year
We would be delighted if your group could join us next year in what is sure to be an exciting and entertaining weekend of theatre. The Central Coast Theatrefest will see drama groups from all around the state (and often beyond) competing in a weekend of sheer heaven for theatre buffs. We get stiff competition and some absolute gems being produced. Come along and immerse yourself in the theatre in June. You'll be thrilled if you've been to theatre festivals before and completely knocked out if you're a newcomer to competitive drama. If your group is at all interested in sending a one-act play of up to an hour's duration, and becoming part of the Central Coast TheatreFest experience, please contact Ruth Jordon on 0408-810-763 (business hours) or 02-4971-0795 (after hours). Her email is isarube2@bigpond.com For further information about the event, please download the pdf file with the application form and other info (423,149 bytes).
