Christmas Day by Claire Haywood
This was a very new Australian Play set in the 90s and directed by Gwen Clarke. It had had its first performance in Australia at the Q Theatre in Penrith on 28 August 1992. Wyong Drama Group was the first amateur group in Australia to perform it, and it opened on 4 November 1993, closing on 13 November. Two sisters come together to celebrate Christmas with their father and stepmother. The family reunion is thrown into chaos by the arrival of their mentally ill mother, who has run away from her nursing home. Kate, a successful public figure, is forced to confront the past and her fears. It is a tragicomedy about suppression, familial patterns of behaviour and letting go of the past.
