Light & Dark 1992
This was the collective name given to four one-act plays presented at Wyong Memorial Hall for five sessions on 8, 9, 10 and 11 April 1992. They were all 8pm sessions with the addition of a 2pm matinee on Saturday 11 April. Incidentally the Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday Matinee sessions were $5 ($4 concession) and uncatered. The Friday and Saturday nights were wine & cheese nights and cost $10 ($8 concession).
The Great Dark by Dan Tonerob
This was directed by Nigel Eynon, assisted by Clive Gibson. In it, five women are anxiously awaiting at the pithead of a coalmine in Northern England for news of their husbands who have been trapped underground for six days. It featured Lisa Casson, Pam Campbell, Barbara Oliver, Julie Bailey, Robyn Byles, and Angela Bain.
Pyramus & Thisbe by William Shakespeare
This is a lamentable comedy extracted from A Midsummer Night's Dream and directed by Gwen Clarke.
Rinse the Blood off my Toga by Johnny Wayne and Frank Schuster
This one was presented by the WDG Juniors Group under the skilful direction of Peter Kocan. This is a shortened version of Wayne and Shuster's take on Shakespeare's own adaptation of the Julius Caesar story. Roman private-eye Flavius Maximus is hired to investigate Caesar's murder by Brutus. The witty use of "martinus" as the singular of "martini" quickly became a catchphrase with some New York bars advertising "Martinus Specials," as did the line "I told him, 'Julie, don't go'," uttered several times by Caesar's wife. The sketch is full of classic vaudeville jokes. Busy Bodies by Pat Woods
Of course, this was the revival of the play done last year at Toukley Bowling Club and the Great Lakes Amateur Drama Festival and directed by Ray Noonan. It is a comedy about a rich family, a gangster and a solicitor. It featured Ruth Jordon, Shawn Rix, Nigel Eynon, Robyn Byles and Ray Noonan. Light and Dark Programme (pdf file, 594,609 bytes) Hit No
