Re: Wyong Drama Group’s November Production Love’s a Luxury
Dt: 3 November 1999
NB: There should be a 6” x 4” snapshot accompanying this release, the caption
will be on a label affixed to the back of the photograph.

It’s not an easy thing to explain to a jealous young wife the overnight visit of a pretty young actress. This is the problem facing Charles Pentwick in the theatrical production Love’s A Luxury opening Thursday night at Wyong Memorial Hall. Charles (Howard Oxley) flees to the home of a friend in the country taking with him comedian Bobby Bentley (Marc Calwell) to plan their next show.

Everyone wants to help Charles sort out the tangle with his wife Margaret (Ruth Jordon). Fritzy Williams (Carolyn Dufton) is the first to arrive, but she only makes matters worse. Dick Pentwick (Duncan Mitchell), Charles’ son by his first wife, complicates things more by telling Margaret a different story which she actually believes! When Charles and Bobby arrive at the lodge they are met not by an elderly housekeeper (as they expect), but instead by a pretty and delightful parlour maid Molly (Cathy DeVries).

On the scene comes Mr Mole (Bernie O’Brien) who is camping nearby. A timid and quiet man, his contact with Bobby, Charles and the others is quite shattering. The fat is in the fire when Margaret who believed Dick’s story to be true has come to beg her husband’s forgiveness. The sudden appearance of the mysterious Mrs Harris (Julie Bailey) who has been delivered by taxi by the bumbling Jollop (Peter Kocan) is devastating to say the least.

To catch the show, simply present yourselves to Wyong Memorial Hall on November 4, 5, 6 & 11, 12, 13 at 8pm or Saturday 13 November at 2pm. There you can sit back in style and catch Wyong Drama Group’s specialty, the English Farce, at its best. For bookings or enquiries call our friendly info line on XXXX-XXXX.
