Noises Off! by Michael Frayn
This is a famous play about a play. It was directed by Fay Carter (vale), as the November 1998 production and was long awaited. The play broke all attendance records to date, and took revenue surpassing all expectations. The set, which had to be rotated twice during performances, was built by professional builders (about the only time I can recall this happening) and surpassed all expectations on the expenses side of the ledger.
