Not Now, Darling by Ray Cooney & John Chapman
The show is your archetypical Ray Cooney/John Chapman farce, this time set in a furrier's. It was directed by Clive Gibson and opened in early November 1991. Crouch, a partner in the fur salon business of Bodley and Crouch, struggles to keep the business successful despite Bodley's womanizing. Bodley tries to secure the affections of his latest would-be mistress by "selling" her husband an expensive mink coat at a reduced price, and the stammering Crouch must consummate the sale with a straight face. However, the husband decides the bargain coat is the perfect gift for his own mistress. There are suspicious wives, mistaken identities, and scantily clad girls stuffed into closets. In the words of Mark Twain: "Persons attempting to find a motive in this narrative will be prosecuted; persons attempting to find a moral in it will be banished; persons attempting to find a plot in it will be shot".
