Neil Simon’s famous play is re-gendered and even funnier. Felix Unger and Oscar Madison become Florence and Olive as they navigate the pitfalls of relationships and friendships as single women living in New York in the 1980s. Full of warmth, spirit, heart and cracking one liners, this is a fantastic play for our exceptionally talented actresses on the Coast!

OLIVE MADISON        30 - 40

A successful television producer; she is intelligent and wisecracking, with a good sense of humour. While her confidence makes her attractive - she’s a complete slob; she has an encyclopaedic understanding of sports.

FLORENCE UNGER     30 - 40

Traditionally attractive, very well-groomed and neat; has just broken up with her husband; she takes herself very seriously, likes to clean, decorate, and cook; she is intelligent and warm-hearted, but has no sense of humour (at least about herself). A hypochondriac who is slightly unhinged.

SYLVIE   25+

Desperately trying to stop smoking and as a consequence is easily irritated by her friends but has a good sense of humour, especially about her husband.

RENEE   25+

Sylvie's best friend, can be very plain-spoken, especially when she points out Olive's failings as a hostess--and then Flo's; she is single and dating a doctor.

VERA      25+

Sweet and nice but a complete ditz. Although quite smart, is often a step or two behind her friends; attractive in an 80’s brassy fashion - she’s very funny, but doesn't realise it.

MICKEY     25+

A police officer, who is down-to-earth, plain-talking, and has a good understanding of people; she tries very hard to be in control of all situations.

THE COSTAZUELA BROTHERS                       25 - 40

Handsome, very well-groomed, and Spanish with a Castilian accent;  every woman's dream dates, they shower both Olive and Flo with attention; must have good comic timing, as they get very emotional; they are sensitive and appreciate Florence's sensitivity.

NOTE: Please note that ages listed are stage ages.

Whilst I would like Florence and Olive to be of a certain age, I have no preference for their Trivial Pursuit playing friends.  As listed, I have no upper age limit and if you are a younger actress (18+) who feels that they can play the maturity required I am happy to see you.
