Wyong TheatreFest 1998
For some time, the contestants at Mudgee or Gulgong Theatre Festivals joked about not being able to afford to run more festivals and that Wyong Drama Group should do it. Well, we DID decide to do it, in 1998, and the festival attracted 18 plays from a wide area of the country. The adjudicator was Lyn Pierse. After this first Theatre Fest, we didn't hold another one until 2004, but we've held one annually since then. Wyong Drama Group presented four plays at the TheatreFest for 1998. They were Albert, which had been performed earlier as the Bush Bash play, and three others specifically produced for the TheatreFest, Silver Wedding Countdown, The Music Lovers and See if I Care. These shows all have their own web pages. Of the fifteen awards on offer, Wyong Drama Group picked up a highly creditable five awards.
