Re: Wyong Drama Group All Set to Open
Dt: 25 October 2002
Wyong Drama Group is producing three one-act comedies for its November
production. The production has been collectively entitled “The Comedy Trio.”
This play sees the work of three people who don’t normally direct plays for the
drama group, and we welcome them to the fold.
The Dear Departed by Stanley Houghton is a riotous comedy about a family
situation that isn’t all it seems. The audience is taken this way and that
through various hilarious twist after twist. The play shows that it pays to
always expect the unexpected, and the tables are turned a number of times. The
Dear Departed is directed by Millie Sampson
Sandcastles on the Beach by John McColl is both a comedy and a poignant story
of a family with various secrets they need to tell each other. It will have
audiences touched as well as rolling about laughing throughout its narrative.
This play is directed by Pam Campbell, who also has a lead role in the play.
Darlings You Were Wonderful by Derek Lomas is directed by Denise Cooper. This
play is about theatrical people, so we need dwell no further into how funny that
subject is!
All three plays will help to end the year on a high note. In the current
climate with various tragedies going on around us, it’s nice for audiences to
escape with a little comedy. Wyong Drama Group hopes to end the 2002 season off
on a high note with this production.
There will be only five performances of the Comedy Trio. It opens at Wyong
Memorial Hall on Friday 1st November at 8pm. There are two performances on
Saturday 2nd November (2pm and 8pm). The following week it’s on Friday and
Saturday 8th and 9th November at 8pm only.
Wyong Memorial Hall is in Anzac Avenue, Wyong, opposite the RSL. Tickets cost
$15/$12 for the Friday and Saturday evening performances, and $12/$10 for the
Saturday Matinee. Bookings can be made on Wyong Drama Group’s booking line
XXXX-XXXX.
